Apra-Virginia is proud to announce that the next speaker in our spring webinar series will be James Wasilewski, Director of Development, L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, Virginia Commonwealth University.

A Yes, And Culture
We live a in a world of mistakes, denials and roadblocks. How can we create an innovative and positive environment of support, acceptance, collaboration and progress that fosters creativity and talent? Understanding the principle of Yes, and in improv helps us overcome mistakes, be present and move forward – individually and together. Through group discussion and activities, explore and practice the strengths of accepting (yes) and building (and).

Speaker Bio:
James Wasilewski has delivered keynote sessions and facilitated workshops through HaHa to Aha - where laughter leads to discovery – supported by over 20 years of improvisational comedy experience. Through these sessions, he applies improvisational concepts and exercises to a variety of topics including idea generation, teamwork, communications and people development skills. He also leads fundraising sessions with individual nonprofits and during conferences.
He has served in various fundraising, constituent engagement and student recruitment roles in higher education for 18 years. He is also a local community advocate and volunteer – currently serving on the Virginia Association of Fund Raising Executive Board (VAFRE), the Children’s Museum Associate Board and the Yes, Balloon (ComedySportz RVA) board. In the past, he was recognized in the Richmond publication Style Weekly’s Top 40 Under 40 for his work in fundraising, volunteer service and improv comedy in the community.
James is a Certified Applied Improvisation – Senior Practitioner with ComedySportz. He also earned his BS in Accounting with a minor in Speech Communications from Randolph-Macon College and his MBA from the University of Central Florida.
